Reviews of Burger King’s Original Chicken, Italian Chicken and their New Philly Chicken Sandwiches

Burger King Chicken Sandwich ReviewsI will start by saying that in the past I have liked Burger King’s Italian Chicken sandwich and I also like a good Philly Cheesesteak. So I thought it was at least worth a try to taste Burger King’s new Philly Chicken Sandwich. I mean how bad could it be, right?

In this review I will start with a review of Burger King’s Italian Chicken sandwich and then review their new Philly Chicken sandwich. I will also include information on Burger King’s Original Chicken sandwich for comparison.

For this review I dined in at the Burger King at 9714 Mission Gorge Road in Santee, CA. As I wanted to review both the Italian Chicken and Philly Chicken sandwiches it was good that they had a buy one get one free promotion. So I ordered one of each. The cashier told me that I could take a seat and they would bring it out when my order was ready. After waiting a very long time I went up to the counter to find out what was taking so long. As I got there the manager was about to take my sandwich to fill an order in drive thru. The cashier let her know that the Italian was with extra sauce and she reluctantly gave it to him. I finally got my order.

So, why is it that in almost all fast food restaurants drive thru orders are placed as a higher priority over orders taken at the counter? This is not the first time I have been a victim of this, it happens all the time. I understand that they want to get the cars through as fast as possible but I placed an order as well and waiting a long time in the lobby is just as frustrating for a customer. Anyway, continuing to the review.

So after all this you would think that my food would have been served hot and fresh. But no, my fries and sandwiches where warm at best. The cheese on the Italian Chicken sandwich was not melted at all. The cheese on the Philly Chicken looked to be a little more melted but still was not hot. Let’s look at each sandwich in detail now.

What goes into the Burger King Italian Chicken Sandwich

Burger King's Chicken Sandwich ReviewsAccording to Burger King’s website the Italian Chicken sandwich starts with their original lightly-breaded chicken fillet topped with melted, thick, natural mozzarella cheese and then smothered with sweet tangy marinara sauce and served hot on a toasted sesame seed bun.

To start with my sandwich was not served to me as it was described on their website. The cheese was not “melted”, the sandwich was not “smothered” with sauce and it was not served “hot”. Even after asking for extra sauce there was very little sauce on this sandwich.

How does the Burger King Italian Chicken Sandwich Taste?

As I said at the beginning of this review, in the past I have always liked the Italian Chicken sandwich from Burger King and I look forward to its limited return to their menu whenever they bring it back. However, somehow the quality at Burger King has gone way down. With the sandwich being cold and the cheese not melted at all and only a hint of sauce, this was a very dry sandwich. Also, it seems that they have increased the amount of salt so that is all you really taste. I do not think I will look forward to having an Italian Chicken sandwich from Burger King the next time they bring it back. That is of course unless I forget my bad experience and think it will be made the way I remember it from years past.

How does the Burger King Philly Chicken Sandwich Taste?

So I stated with the premise that I like a good Philly Cheesesteak and how bad could the Burger King Philly Chicken sandwich be, right? Well, pretty bad. The American cheese, cheese sauce, bell peppers and grilled onions pretty much taste like mush on a bed of salt. I finished about half this sandwich as I wanted to make sure I was giving it a fair review. But every bite was a chore and I would not recommend this sandwich to anyone.
