Arby’s King’s Hawaiian Roast Beef & Swiss Review

King's Hawaiian Roast BeefI keep forgetting how much I like Arby’s roast beef sandwiches. Now with the introduction of the King’s Hawaiian Roast Beef & Swiss I have good reason to remember how much I like them. In this review I will compare the Regular Roast Beef sandwiches (Classic, Mid and Max) with the new King’s Hawaiian Roast Beef and the King’s Hawaiian Roast Beef & Swiss. For good measure, I also tried the new House Made Chips and I will let you know what I thought of those as well.

To try the new King’s Hawaiian Roast Beef sandwiches I went to the Arby’s at 5341 Jackson Drive in La Mesa CA 91942. I ordered my sandwich at the counter and enjoyed my meal outside on the patio. This location is old, rundown and in need of a lot of TLC. The service was very slow but the crew people were pleasant enough to keep me from walking out. I ordered the King’s Hawaiian Roast Beef & Swiss, the House Made Chips and a drink.

Arby’s King’s Hawaiian Roast Beef & Swiss

King's Hawaiian Roast BeefLet me start with the King’s Hawaiian bun. This bread is truly irresistible. This slightly sweet and airy bun was lightly toasted. The King’s Hawaiian bun is the perfect complement to the Arby’s roast beef. You get a third more of the thinly sliced roast beef than you do with Arby’s Classic Roast Beef sandwich. To top of this sandwich, Arby’s adds Swiss cheese, sliced pickles and a creamy Dijon sauce. This works very well with the King’s Hawaiian bun and Arby’s roast beef. Arby’s King’s Hawaiian Roast Beef & Swiss is a great tasting sandwich.

Arby’s King’s Hawaiian Roast Beef

This is the same as a regular Arby’s Roast Beef sandwich except it uses a King’s Hawaiian bun instead of the sesame seed bun. Even without the Swiss cheese, Dijon sauce or the sliced pickle the King’s Hawaiian bun really does add a lot of flavor to the Arby’s Roast Beef. The bun just melts into the Roast Beef as you take each bite. For those that do not like Dijon sauce or pickles, or if you want to cut out a few calories the King’s Hawaiian Roast Beef is a great choice.

Arby’s House Made Chips

King's Hawaiian Roast BeefArby’s House Made Chips are thick-cut kettle-style Potato chips tossed with Arby’s Sauce® seasoning. Each store makes the House Made Chips fresh each day. However, the chips I had did not taste fresh at all. The chips were stale, hard, and not crisp. The Arby’s Sauce® seasoning did not help these gross chips in any way. Maybe if the chips were fresh they could have been better, but I do not think so.

From a nutrition standpoint, I would avoid the Arby’s House Made Chips.  You are taking on 450 calories with 250 of those calories coming from fat. Summary

Defiantly have an Arby’s King’s Hawaiian Roast Beef & Swiss or the King’s Hawaiian Roast Beef. The King’s Hawaiian bun really complements the Arby’s Roast Beef. On the other hand, defiantly avoid the House Made Chips. Even the Arby’s Sauce® seasoning cannot help these gross chips.
